Extremist Conference in Chicago

All of my life Chicago seemed much more dangerous than any other urban monster, including New York City. Maybe the best thing would be to build a wall around Chicago – nobody in, nobody out without a visa and thumb print. But now this raises the state of affairs to weapons grade lawlessness.

by Ryan Mauro * June 30, 2010 * FrontPageMagazine

Hizb ut-Tahrir, an Islamic extremist group working for uniting the world under Sharia law, is scheduled to hold its second annual conference on July 11 at the Chicago Marriott Oak Brook. The theme of the event is, “Emerging World Order: How the Khilafah Will Shape the World.” The organization has chosen the home of President Obama, the leader of the free world, to pursue its anti-democratic agenda by taking advantage of the freedoms it seeks to vanquish.

“HT recruiters use religious language to pull the confused Muslim youth to their side in an effort to undermine American democracy. The danger of this conference is that it legitimizes HT as a mainstream organization and allows it to further spread its hate-filled message that divides Muslims and non-Muslims,” Zeyno Baran, a Senior Fellow at the Hudson Institute, told FrontPage.

Hizb ut-Tahrir has accurately been described as “a conveyor belt to terror” by Dr. M. Zuhdi Jasser, the moderate Muslim leader of the American Islamic Forum for Democracy. Although the group condemns terrorism and doesn’t publicly support violence, several of its members have gone on to become major terrorists, including Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.

Last 3 Years – 2.6 Million Private Sector Jobs Lost since Stimulus, 8 Million Lost since start of Recession; Public Sector gained 720,000 jobs.

Power Line reported on the Obama jobs disaster earlier this week.

— Since the beginning of the recession (roughly January 2008), some 7.9 million jobs were lost in the private sector while 590,000 jobs were gained in the public one. And since the passage of the stimulus bill (February 2009), over 2.6 million private jobs were lost, but the government workforce grew by 400,000.

While the private sector was losing over 10 million jobs between June of 2007 and March of 2010, the public sector grew by 720,000.

Bargain Citizen sends this in: “My friend Nancy from College Station had another great one in AT this weekend.”

By Nancy Coppock * June 27, 2010 * American Thinker
Okay, let’s just cut to the chase and end the rebellion of man once and for all. We know that just saying “God is dead” was a head-fake for the masses and that the end goal was to convince everyone there was Nobody to be dead in the first place. You can’t have a funeral for He Who never existed. Let’s just push the envelope on over the cliff and make clear that the whole circular argument was just a setup to entice navel-gazers into theological and mental neuropathy. Everyone knows that constantly contemplating the existence, or not, of a Greater Being has a 97% chance of spiraling into self-absorption, allowing us time to bring forward new programs to fill The NonExistent One’s place.

So, You Know Who is out of the way, and ditto with those Commands. There’s a whole unsettled land outside those stoic boundaries, a new unfettered land of Manifest Destiny where intolerance and complaining are not only acceptable — they’re required. We are talking about a whole new promised land where a crisis is never wasted by something as mundane as an orderly, proven solution.

Texas Rumblings get results!

Yesterday… from the Perry campaign headquarters * June 28, 2010 4:12 PM

Friends,

The 24 hour fundraising challenge for Governor Perry’s campaign starts at
midnight tonight…

A Texas citizen, District 25 * Date: June 28, 2010 5:13 PM:

J. ,

You want to raise a LOT of money?  If so, convince the Governor to “come out of the closet” and support Arizona’s border enforcement initiative against illegal immigration.  An executive order that complies with current federal and Texas law, and prohibits “sanctuary cities” would even be better!  It is a drop dead winner politically; and Texas should be following Arizona’s lead on this before their law becomes effective at the end of next month.

If approximately 2/3 of ALL Americans support a secure border and enforcement of same, I’d bet good money that the percentage is even higher in Texas.  If Governor Perry did come out in support, just imagine the untenable position for Bill White.  Does he side with the majority of Texans and support the Governor’s action, say nothing, or publicly oppose the Governor?  If he does the latter, we hang him firmly around the neck of a president who will not fulfill the sole constitutionally-mandated job of the federal government, “to  PROVIDE for the common defense” — by securing the border against an invasion of illegals, a significant number of which are not Mexican nationals, and may well include potential terrorists.

We must focus on the fact that this is NOT an issue of race, or profiling, or an infringement on someone’s rights as the Democrats profess.  It’s about the investigation of one or more criminal acts!  By the way, Governor Perry has my vote, but I’d pledge $100 to the campaign IF he just publicly declared his support for AZ’s SB 1070 and Governor Brewer’s efforts to assert their state sovereignty.  What say you, J.?

B. G.

Another Texan, same district:

I will match B. G’s pledge…  you won’t get my pledge tomorrow unless Perry goes on the TV tonight.

Governor of Texas joins Brewer of Arizona in demanding federal government secure the border

June 29, 9:31 AMLA Conservative Examiner * Larry Hart

Rick Perry, Governor of Texas, has joined Governor Jan Brewer of Arizona in chastising the Obama administration for not doing their job of securing the borders.

The most single minded purpose of the nation state is to provide for a common defense.

The Obama administration refuses to do that. Consequently, Arizona is becoming a more dangerous place to be as time goes on.

Texas, does not have an SB1070 but is experiencing the same out of control broken borders, unchecked flow of humanity, drug running, armed cartel soldiers, and Perry says what Obama has done so far is “insufficient to meet the needs of securing the Texas-Mexico border.”

Paul Krugman’s Depression

June 29, 2010 * By Investor’s Business Daily

Economic Policy: Nobel Prize-winning economist Paul Krugman says the U.S. is in the “early stages of a third Great Depression.” If he’s right, it’s only because American policymakers have been following his advice.

Hell knows no wrath like that of an economist scorned – especially one on the left of the political spectrum. Case in point: New York Times columnist and sometime economist Paul Krugman. The world is going to hell in a handbasket, Krugman suggested this week, thanks in large part to its refusal to follow his advice to the letter.

Actually, he has it exactly backward. Krugman was among those who encouraged the new Obama administration and the Democratic Congress to spend massive amounts of money early on in a kind of Keynesian frenzy to shock the moribund economy back to life.
It didn’t work. With a stimulus – a deficit, that is – of nearly 11% of GDP, our economy is barely growing, while unemployment remains shockingly close to 10% of the adult working population…

There’s a Better Way

The Path to American Prosperity — Congressman Paul Ryan (R-WI)

So what do I propose with the Roadmap? I will go over it very briefly.

1.  Tax reform. I would replace the current tax system with a modified flat tax, retaining its progressivity. 10% on the first $100,000 for couples, 25% above that. No other taxes on capital or savings – no dividends, capital gains, or death tax.

2.  Replace the corporate income tax, with a better system. We should have a territorial tax system, not a worldwide system. We should have a system that says to businesses you ought to be able to expense every investment in plant and equipment the year in which it takes place. We also should have a border-adjustable system. Why don’t we do to our competitors what they are doing to us? Take the tax off our exports and put it in on our imports to better level the playing field, to reward businesses for building things in America and exporting them. Let’s acknowledge the fact that 97% of the world’s consumers are outside of this country. Let’s get our businesses in a situation where they are ultra competitive. Let’s make sure that when businesses invest and build and grow here in America, that’s the smart business thing to do.

3.  I also think you need to strengthen job training assistance. We have so many different job training programs in the Federal government – dozens of them, duplicative and overly complicated. Let’s consolidate them…

4.  For Social Security, don’t change anything for people over the age of fifty-five. Make sure that we can guarantee their benefits. But if you are under fifty-five, the money isn’t going to be there for you anyway. So why don’t we reform the system so that it will actually be there for you. If you want to stay in the traditional system, you can remain in the current program as structured – that is your choice. If you want a system where you can take a third of your payroll taxes and put them in a thrift savings account, exactly like I as a member of Congress or any other federal worker can, where it will be managed Social Security with safe indexed funds, my reforms will allow you to do that. You can grow your money. You can harness the power of compound interest. The funds become your property. It goes to your spouse or your heirs when you pass on.

5.  Medicaid. Let’s give the States – the laboratories of democracy – the ability to customize their programs to meet their citizens’ needs. We would give individuals a voucher to get private health insurance, with protections to people with pre-existing conditions. Where I come from, if you’re on Medicaid and you walk into a doctor’s office, you’ve got “poor person” stamped on your forehead. Fifty percent of the doctors won’t even take you because they lose forty cents on the dollar for every person that they see. So why don’t we have a system where we don’t segregate the poor into an inferior health care system? Why don’t we have a system so that we can give them the access the kind of private health insurance that everybody else has. You can do that in the way that we are proposing and save the system from insolvency and bankruptcy.

If you get ahead of this debt problem – if you reform these programs, doing it on our terms, not imposing austerity but advancing prosperity – you can guarantee that we will have higher standards of living for future Americans. The next generation will be better off than our generation. There can be more jobs, better wages, and greater opportunity in this society. That at the end of the day is really what this is all about.

Hispanics in the New TX Social Studies Curriculum

Update: Ken’s opponent has released a completely false TV ad with the same accusations the lib media made against Ken just months ago. Here’s the real story, again.

From our friend Ken Mercer.

As an elected Member of the Texas State Board of Education (SBOE) I am appalled by the repeated  lies of the Far Left regarding the new 2010 Social Studies standards. Here are just a few of the lies you have heard and read:

  • Thomas Jefferson erased from history
  • Role Minorities (Hispanics and African-Americans) dimished from history
  • Standards failed to follow “expert”  recommendation

This new video will address the ugly lie that Hispanics were erased or diminished from our new 2010 standards.

Received from Senator John Cornyn:

Thank you for your recent letter regarding Solicitor General Elena Kagan’s nomination to serve on the Supreme Court. I appreciate having the benefit of your comments on this important matter.

As you know, President Obama nominated Ms. Kagan to replace Justice John Paul Stevens on the U.S. Supreme Court. It is essential that the Senate perform its constitutional duty to provide advice and consent to Presidential nominees in a thorough manner and give Ms. Kagan’s record a full and fair review. There is no doubt that Ms. Kagan possesses a first-rate intellect; however, if confirmed as a life-tenured justice, her rulings could affect the life, liberty, and property of Americans for generations. Therefore, we must fully examine her judicial philosophy and commitment to our founding principles.

Ms. Kagan’s confirmation hearing will be critical to learning her views, as she has no judicial record to evaluate and has spent very little time in the actual practice of law. As a former Texas Supreme Court Justice and Texas Attorney General, I believe Americans are best served by judges who interpret the law as the framers of the Constitution intended. Nominees must prove that they will not legislate from the bench or color their rulings with personal ideology. I believe that such requirements will ensure the preservation of our Constitution and safeguard the principles that we hold dear.

Though Ms. Kagan failed to answer many questions posed prior to her confirmation as Solicitor General, I am hopeful that she will be more open and willing to respond to reasonable and relevant questions during her confirmation to serve as an Associate Justice. For example, Ms. Kagan’s decision to bar military recruiters from Harvard Law School should be fully examined. I am very concerned by anyone who would demonstrate a lack of respect for our United States military, and particularly for the importance of our all-volunteer military, serving in harm’s way in the global war on terror.

I recognize the importance of this matter and as a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, I will continue evaluate all judicial nominees to ensure that they revere the law and will apply it impartially. Through the confirmation process, I look forward to determining whether Ms. Kagan meets this high standard and is fit to serve as an Associate Justice. I appreciate having the opportunity to represent the interests of Texans in the United States Senate. Thank you for taking the time to contact me.

Sincerely,

JOHN CORNYN
United States Senator
