On Tuesday, June 22, the nation of Mexico filed a lawsuit in federal court suing the state of Arizona over its new immigration law. On Tuesday, July 6, the Obama Justice Department filed a similar suit against Arizona. Obama denied any involvement in an obvious lie exposed by the New York Times.
White House officials said Mr. Obama was not involved in the Justice Department’s decision to sue. But the suit came after steps by Mr. Obama in an effort to frame the immigration debate in terms that will favor Democrats in advance of the mid-term elections in November, including a speech last Thursday wherein he restated his commitment to overhaul legislation that would give legal status to millions of illegal immigrants. New York Times, July 6
Not only is the Obama administration refusing to enforce our immigration laws, as did previous administrations, he is refusing to protect our states from suit by foreign nations. He can order his Justice Department to fight Mexico’s standing to sue a sovereign state in our courts. Under the Constitution, it is the first duty of the federal government to defend this country, and that includes from legal assault, as well as military assault and invasions. Obama is refusing to do so, so Arizona is resorting back to its reserved rights under the Tenth Amendment to protect its own borders due to the federeal government’s failure.
Now, Arizona is under assault from a foreign nation suing it in our federal court system. If Mexico wants to sue over Arizona’s law, the only venue it should have is to sue our federal government, and then only with our permission as a sovereign nation. By allowing the suit to stand, the Obama administration has put Arizona under legal jeopardy by a foreign nation.
This threatens Texas as well, so what can we do about it? Now, what is to keep Mexico from suing us? What is to keep the Federal government from ceding part of our state to Mexico as it has already done in Arizona?
We should all contact Gregg Abbott and urge him to file an Amicus brief in support of Arizona. We should urge our legislators and Governor Perry to back Arizona in its multiple lawsuits on this law. Governor Perry should urge governors of other states to join with us in opposing this joint assault on one of our states by the Obama administration and the foreign nation of Mexico by supporting Arizona in defense of its sovereignty.

I missed a little detail in the news. My suggestion has already been done.
