Perry Retracts the Word ‘Heartless’… After His Poll Numbers Tank

And that’s about it. I leave it to you to decide if this qualifies as an apology.

Uploaded by  on Sep 28, 2011

An apologetic Texas Gov. Rick Perry says his use of the word ‘heartless’ was inappropriate to describe individuals who refused to provide discounted college tuition to illegal immigrants. In an exclusive Newsmax.TV interview, Perry says he is against building a border fence–except in metropolitan areas—to stop illegal immigration.

Citizen Report: San Marcos Wildfire 9/24/11

The fire was reported under control by Judge Beth Smith around 9:00 pm last night. This video is by Rob Roark.

Uploaded by  on Sep 24, 2011

We saw the smoke coming in from Kyle about 4:45 on Saturday 9-24. It quickly grew larger as we started filming. Our first filming location was on Post Road, and we then moved around to the north side of the fire to a better vantage point near the old quarry on Lime Kiln Road, just next to Promise Land church.
It appears no homes were lost, and no major injuries. As of 7:30 PM, the fire was 50% contained, and residents were allowed to return to their homes

Standing Up for Governor Perry’s Record On the Border

Kevin Williamson’s not to be missed response to Rick Santorum on behalf of Governor Rick Perry is at NRO today. Enlightening! Glad to have the back and forth so we can discover the real situation. I for one am not overly impressed with speeches or debates; I am interested in a person’s record and the facts and welcome the well researched backup from Governor Perry’s supporters.

Santorum’s Ill-Advised Border War

He stepped into unknown territory to criticize Perry’s legitimate immigration policies.

by Kevin D. Williamson | SEPTEMBER 23, 2011 2:00 P.M. | National Review Online

Rick Santorum, in his day the U.S. senator I most admired, is an embarrassment as a no-hoper presidential candidate — and nowhere has that been more painfully evident than in his attempt to characterize Rick Perry as being soft on illegal immigration. Last night, he ridiculed a health-insurance initiative Governor Perry had supported for the benefit of those living on the Texas–Mexico border. “He gave a speech in 2001 in which in talked about ‘binational health insurance’ between Mexico and Texas,” Santorum said. “I don’t think even Barack Obama would be in favor of binational health insurance.” This was followed by thunderous applause from an audience that clearly didn’t know anything more about the issue than Santorum does.

Santorum is absolutely correct about one thing: Barack Obama would not have supported the plan, which would have liberalized health-insurance regulations in Texas, allowing insurance companies — private companies — to write policies on both sides of the border, and to write policies that cover medical procedures on both sides of the border. Which is to say, Santorum was giving Perry grief for having the audacity to suggest that insurance companies ought to be allowed to sell insurance to whom they please and where they please, that consumers ought to have more choices, and that we can alleviate the costs of providing health care to the uninsured by letting markets work. No doubt Barack Obama would be opposed — but why is Rick Santorum? Two possible answers to that question: 1. He is engaging in cheap demagoguery. 2. He has no idea what he is talking about.

Warren’s Marxist Tirade

Running for Senate and still on the Harvard payroll, Elizabeth Warren’s anti-capitalist tirade went totally viral last week. In it she shrewishly rails against the producers and appeals to what is lowest in her listeners – the worm of discontent known as envy. How fine it is to claim the mantle of being virtuous merely by deriding your benefactors. Talented, right?

“You are what you are because of the collective” is the meme here. Collectivism v. the individual is the conflict we face on a daily basis and in the Age of Aquarius it’s the only game in town.

Btw somebody should tell Ms. Warren that 47% of the people DON’T pay anything. I think she missed that one.

Classical Perspectives

There is an old saying that “One head is worth a hundred hands.” This has fallen out of usage due to political correctness and the false ploy of universal equality of all mankind on a material level, which generally leads to its opposite – that is, preferential treatment of special interest groups.

According to Bhagavad-Gita (4.13), human society is naturally divided into four groups – intellectual teacher clerics, warriors and administrators, mercantile and finally laborers (skilled and unskilled. Physicians and artisans belong to this category). Class is determined by the nature of the individual, NOT by birth. The mercantile men are those who can take capital and multiply it by taking risks and organizing labor, producing goods, conducting trade and uplifting society economically. The administrators protect both the merchants and labor force, while the clerics keep the administrators in line. This is the age old system that works IF each sector does its job properly.

The societal rot begins at the top. When teachers, clerics and priests become politically motivated and corrupted the royal class follows. The French Revolution was against this crooked usurpation and one of its slogans was “Men will never be free until the last king is strangled with the entrails of the last priest.” - Denis Diderot (French man of letters and philosopher, 1713-1784)

Well, the kings are all but gone. Now the deluded oligarchs are aiming at destroying the merchant or entrepreneur class. Ms. Warren is a mouthpiece of this insanity.

My guru Srila Prabhupada tells a story that can shine a different light on the issue.

Some labourers were criticising the minister of the king, claiming he only sat around and did no work.  The king reminded them that it took intelligence to become a minister.  He said that he would give a test for everyone including the minister.  Whoever could pass the test could become the next minister.  The king said, “Take this big elephant, weigh him, and let me know the exact weight.”

The ordinary men were baffled.  Where was there a scale for weighing an elephant?  They could not do anything.  They came back to the king with no information.

Then the king turned to his minister and asked, “Will you kindly weigh this elephant?”  So in six minutes he came back and reported, “It is twenty mounds (1,920 lbs).”  The other men were standing open-mouthed in surprise.  “How is that?”  they asked.  “Within six minutes he came back and he gave the exact weight!”

The king asked, “How did you weigh him? Did you get some very big scale?’

“No sir,” replied the minister.  “It is not possible to weigh the elephant on a scale.  It is very difficult.”

“Then how did you weigh it?”

“I took it on a boat.  When I got him on the boat then I saw the watermark and I marked it.  Then, after getting the elephant off the boat, I added weight onto the boat, and when it came to the same watermark, then I understood.”

So the king addressed the labourers and cautioned them.  “Now you see the difference?”  They agreed, “Yes”.

Spiritually all men are equal. Physically and mentally, however, men (and of course women) have different natural talents and abilities which require organization. Although the idea of superiors and inferiors may be artificially rejected due to modern insubordination, these differences exist nonetheless. A proper relationship between the different groups is necessary and tradition shows that beneficence, gentleness and patience of superiors (gasp) plus happy obedience (gasp) and cooperation of inferiors (gasp) is the best combination.

The conclusion is that classes exist naturally but they should not be at war with one another. “E pluribus unum – out of many, one.”

Ideals and Longings of a Generation

Understanding Human Nature Series, Part 1

Ever wonder why kids are so different from their parents? Despite the same bloodline and a few shared characteristics there is invariably a gap of understanding (one that unfortunately is too often exploited by those who would take control of the children away from their parents.) It’s as if square parents have round kids, round parents have square kids. You could say that the differences are like that of hardwiring, of psychic components configured in a particular way – which, for better or worse, are for a different purpose in time.

I have found astrology to be a helpful tool for deciphering these differences for achieving understanding and better interaction.

Astrology is the language of nature. The birth chart of an entity is a statement of its purpose in time and space.

Time and space are the limits, the parameters of the possible, that shape the circumstances of life. These limits are not affected by belief or delusion for, like fire, they act all the same. This is natural law as ordained by the Supreme Controller. Acceptance of astrology is not anti-religious or anti-God. On the contrary, it affirms His supreme intelligence and influence in the life of man and the world.

Thine eyes did see mine unformed substance; And in thy book they were all written, Even the days that were ordained for me, When as yet there was none of them. ~ Psalm 139:16

The positions of the planets at the moment of birth reflect impressions in the subtle level of existence (psyche) of that particular manifest form. They speak of its natural tendencies, purpose and even duration or length of life.

I invite my reader to suspend disbelief for a minute or two and see if the information given about your age group below rings a bell.

The Generational Mission

Since the slower moving planets – Uranus, Neptune and Pluto – are in the same signs and aspects for longer periods, their influences extend over larger groups of people and they are often referred to as generational indicators. Neptune’s influence is, like everything material, both positive and negative:

Positive expression – mystical vision, wide scope of perception, artistic bent
Negative traits – delusions, craftiness, self-dramatizations

Let’s look at Neptune in the signs and discover what it tells us about the cultural and political scene before us – the dynamic interaction of collective ideals and aspirations – beginning with current performers on the world stage.

Generation X – Neptune in Scorpio – Emotional Drama

According to renowned astrologer Liz Greene, this generation “idealizes intensity, depth and emotional confrontation” and “seeks a sense of redemption through dramatic expressions of personal transformation and the revelation of powerful and often primitive feelings… Neptune in Scorpio embodies a secret passion which is reflected in the fashion, films and music popular among those born in this age group.” This covers anyone born from 1956 – 1970 or, as of this writing, 41 – 58 years of age. That includes President Barack H. Obama.

In my experience it seems that when characteristics are used dutifully in relation to others, and for their benefit, they manifest positively. When they are used for ego gratification and self-aggrandizement, for power over others, they manifest negatively. The following section is from Alan Oken’s Complete Astrology.

Positive traits v. Misuse or exaggerations of traits

  • Creative through rebuilding v. totally destructive
  • Healer v. seducer
  • Strong and loyal friend v. uses friends for personal gain
  • Giver of strength v. psychic vampire
  • Inspires faith v. total egotist
  • Seeks merger with Spirit v. wants others to merge with him

Baby Boomers – Neptune in Libra – Peace and Love

This generation “idealizes love, harmony and the transcendent power of human relationship. This group seeks a sense of redemption through the pursuit of a perfect world freed of violence, greed, cruelty and conflict… Neptune in Libra embodies a secret utopian vision” which is reflected in its popular culture.

Those born from late 1942 – 1956 or approximate ages 55 – 69.

Positive – courageous, inspiring, trailblazing, life-initiating
Negative – rash and foolhardy, overbearing, opportunistic, egotistical

Positive traits v. Misuse or exaggerations of traits

  • Completely impartial and balanced mind v. incapable of decision
  • Refined, artistic nature v. pleasure seeker and hedonist
  • Perfect in marriage and partnerships v. manipulates and dominates others
  • Sociable and gregarious v. completely dependent on others
  • Graceful and charming v. superficial and deceitful
  • Inspires talents of others v. seeks relationships for personal gain

Next Gen – Neptune in Sagittarius – The New Age

This group “idealizes the future and the concept of a dawning New Age… seeks a sense of redemption through religious or spiritual commitment and a global vision of evolving human consciousness”… “Neptune in Sagittarius embodies a secret mystical hopefulness”

November 1970 – Jan 1984, ages 27 – 41.

Yes, and I remember Aristotle has noted, “Youth is easily deceived because it is quick to hope.”

Positive expression – diverse, intellectual, original
Negative expression – Superficial, intuition blocked by verbal amplification, imitative

Positive traits v. Misuse or exaggerations of traits

  • Vast and inspirational mind v. inability to regulate mind with matter
  • Sees the larger issue at hand v. tends to false exaggerations
  • Magnanimous and generous v. gluttonous, never satisfied
  • Teacher and judge v. dictator and propagandist
  • Straightforward and bold v. loud-mouthed and coarse

More descriptions of future and past generations coming soon.

Watch for the next post in this series that deals with Pluto’s placement and what each generation perceives as “a matter of life and death.”

The Daily Dose

Perry’s Florida Facepalm

Alright – you can’t miss this objective piece by my favorite British writer Toby Harnden over at The Telegraph. He calls it a miserable debate for Governor Rick Perry and gives us 10 things that we can think about. This particularly caught my eye:

When under attack, Perry has an unfortunate tendency to badmouth. Tonight, he seemed to accuse Texas voters of being stupid when he said: “I’ve readily admitted that we should have had an opt-in in this programme, but I don’t know what part of opt-out most parents don’t get.” So what was on the face of it an apology turned into an insult int he same sentence.

Yeah, and then there’s this:

Similarly, on the in-state tuition question, he said: “But if you say that we should not educate children who have come into our state for no other reason than they’ve been brought there by no fault of their own, I don’t think you have a heart.” In arguing against a position held by most Republican primary voters it is probably not wise to accuse them of being heartless.

Okay, I’m heartless. Thanks Governor.

Gardasil is still stalking Perry and reared its ugly head again – as we all knew it would. Here is only one of many pieces on the report that Perry actually met the cancer victim (credited with being a catalyst for the decision to mandate the vaccination) AFTER he had signed the executive order. HPV Vaccine Fact Check: Perry Misstated Relationship With Dying Woman

I love the way the press calls it an attack when anyone brings up a candidate’s record of going against the base’s principles and ethics.

Earth to Rick Perry: the tea party IS the American electorate. We’re the ones who pay the taxes. And with social media we know what you are doing and have done with our money. Your campaign spokespeople cannot obliterate any of it. On the contrary, the dissembling is a real turn off. Why not honestly admit your mistakes and stop doubling down on the unacceptable?

Michele Bachmann makes some good points here in a post debate interview with Sean Hannity. There is a lot more I could say on this, but let’s leave it at that for now.

Life in Hell

American Soil

Awesome. Texas Walker sends this in:

I can’t think of a better word than “PRICELESS” FOR THIS. . .

Here’s a picture of an Army soldier in Iraq with his tiny ‘plot’ of grass in front of his tent.  It’s heartwarming!

He asked his wife to send him dirt ( U.S. Soil), fertilizer, and some grass seed so that he can have the sweet aroma, and feel the grass grow beneath his feet.  When the men of the squadron have a mission that they are going on, they take turns walking through the grass and the American soil – to bring them good luck.

Of all the things he could have asked his wife to send to him from home………..he asked for American soil.

Oklahoma Is No Longer OK for Illegal Aliens

Last week my friend Paul G. sent me an interesting update on the Oklahoma anti-illegal law that passed in 2007 and went into effect in November that year.  By March 2008 the unemployment rate fell by more than in any other state.  ”I’m not sure if the unemployment rate was lower,” Paul said, “but unemployment fell and the change in unemployment was much greater than in any other state.” Here’s a map for the reader’s perusal and the article he sent for more details. It’s encouraging to see results like this – maybe this is what it takes to turn off the Texas magnet.

Two Years After Strict Immigration Reform, Oklahoma Is More Than OK

The state’s economy is far outperforming most of the country, and it appears to trace back to the passage of their illegal immigrant crackdown.

by Tom Blumer | May 14, 2010 | PajamasMedia

Given the economic damage inflicted on us by the current administration and many state governments, most readers of this column would probably be quite happy to live in a state where:

• The official unemployment rate in March was 6.6%.

• The average unemployment rate in 2009 using the most comprehensive definition  was 10.5%, the fourth-lowest in the nation (behind three much smaller states), and far lower than the national average of 16.2%.

• The number of people either working or looking for work has actually grown during the past twelve months (in most states, the labor force has contracted significantly).

• The economy grew in 2008, and probably did so again in 2009.

Unless you live in Oklahoma, you’re not in that state.

It “just so happens” that the Sooner State passed a strict immigration enforcement measure in May 2007, which went into effect six months later.

Specifically:

House Bill 1804 was passed by overwhelming majorities in both the House and Senate of the Oklahoma legislature. The measure’s sponsor, State Representative Randy Terrill, says the bill has four main topical areas: it deals with identity theft; it terminates public assistance benefits to illegals; it empowers state and local police to enforce federal immigration laws; and it punishes employers who knowingly hire illegal aliens.

Oklahoma is no longer “O.K.” for illegal aliens, Terrill observes. “When you put everything together in context,” he contends, “the bottom line is illegal aliens will not come here if there are no jobs waiting for them, they will not stay here if there is no government subsidy, and they certainly won’t stay here if they know that if they ever encounter our state and local law enforcement officers, they will be physically detained until they’re deported. And that’s exactly what House Bill 1804 does.”  Read it all.

By the way Hong Kong has dropped to 3.2% unemployment, which is no accident given their techniques of controlling illegal immigration.

Don’t Mess with the NYPD

When Tea Party people discuss what to do about the deficit and overspending in Washington they use expressions like “hold them accountable” or “stand up to the politicians.” But I always say that the thieves and rogues, the crooks and liars in DC are not going to stop spending (looting the treasury) until somebody knocks ‘em down, puts on the handcuffs and throws ‘em in the paddy wagon. That includes Zero.

THIS is what I’m talking about >>>

Oh, and the protesters want you to donate so they can keep this up (I do NOT endorse them):

NYPD has arrested this morning innocent people violently with no reason in Liberty Plaza. OCCUPY WALL STREET!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please come and join us! We need you here!

The more people we are, the stronger we get!!!!! IT’S TIME TO DEMAND OUR RIGHTS BACK!!!!!

No, brothers, actually it’s time to obey the authorities and follow the rules. There are even rules for public protest, and that includes following the officers’ instructions.

Man, I LOVE the NYPD. Can we take them to Washington to do a little clean up?

ICYMI: The Rest of the Story

Here are two important videos that have made the rounds in the past few days. Everyone who has ever wondered about this seemingly perpetual conflict can use this information in coming to his or her own conclusions. I came to the inescapable realization that Israel’s military actions were defensive when Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, in 2004–05, orchestrated Israel’s unilateral disengagement from the Gaza Strip - and the rockets still kept coming from the Muslim side.

Israel Palestinian Conflict: The Truth About the Peace Process

Uploaded by  on Sep 12, 2011

Israel’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Danny Ayalon explains the historical facts relating to the Israeli Palestinian conflict. The video explains that the reason there is no successful peace process is because of decades of Palestinian and Arab recalcitrance and the main reason for the conflict is not Israel’s presence in the West Bank, but successive Palestinian leaders resistance to Jewish sovereignty.

Debunking the Palestine Lie

Uploaded by  on Sep 19, 2011

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has launched an international campaign to achieve recognition by the United Nations for an independent Palestinian state. Abbas and his international supporters claim that only Israel (with the United States) stands in the way of this act of historical justice, which would finally bring about peace in the Middle East.

This video debunks the Palestinians’ claim and shows that Abbas has been lying about the origins and history of the conflict. Palestinian leaders have rejected partition plans that would have given them much more land for their independent state than the Jews were offered for theirs. Rather than being the innocent victims of a “dispossession” at the hands of the Israelis, the Palestinians rejected reasonable compromises and instead pursued their aim of getting rid of the only Jewish state in the world.
