Cruz “Invites” Dewhurst to Debate

TED CRUZ INVITES DAVID DEWHURST TO FIVE LINCOLN-DOUGLAS STYLE DEBATES
“Voters want to hear from the candidates,” Dewhurst says

AUSTIN—Ahead of this weekend’s Lincoln-Douglas style debate between Herman Cain and Newt Gingrich in The Woodlands, Ted Cruz invited Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst to five similar debates between now and the primary election.

Cruz noted in a letter to Dewhurst, that the Lt. Governor publicly stated, “What I think is in the voters’ best interest is to hear from the candidates, and so that’s what we’re doing.”

“I take you at your word that you are sincerely interested in providing Texans a fair opportunity to ask the hard questions necessary to make an informed decision in this Senate election,” Cruz wrote.

This Saturday’s Lincoln-Douglas debate between Cain and Gingrich is getting a tremendously high level of interest from Republican primary voters. “Texans deserve the same opportunity in the Texas Senate race,” Cruz observed.

“I know it’s tempting for a front-runner to try to hide from debates, and you have often said you consider yourself the front-runner,” Cruz added in the letter to Dewhurst. “But you’re a smart, serious man, and I hope you respect Texas voters enough to stand before them and answer their questions.”

Dewhurst for Texas
P.O. Box 2667
Austin, Texas 78768

Dear Lieutenant Governor Dewhurst,

You have publicly stated, “What I think is in the voters’ best interest is to hear from the candidates, and so that’s what we’re doing. We’re going to almost a different city every day.”

I take you at your word that you are sincerely interested in providing Texans a fair opportunity to ask the hard questions necessary to make an informed decision in this Senate election.

In that spirit, I invite you to join me in five Lincoln-Douglas style debates across the State between now and the Republican Primary.

As you know, this Saturday in The Woodlands, Herman Cain and Newt Gingrich are participating in a Lincoln-Douglas debate hosted by the Texas Tea Party Patriots PAC.

Texans deserve the same opportunity in the Texas Senate race.

Voters are rightly tired of short sound bites and 30-second TV ads. A Lincoln-Douglas style debate would allow us to address the issues in a serious, substantive way—to give the voters the insight they need to make an informed decision.

I know it’s tempting for a front-runner to try to hide from debates, and you have often said you consider yourself the front-runner. But you’re a smart, serious man, and I hope you respect Texas voters enough to stand before them and answer their questions.

You have also publicly suggested that I’m a “rookie,” not having your long experience as an elected official.  Standing next to me during a substantive debate will provide an excellent opportunity for you to make the case how valuable your lengthy experience as an elected official would be in the United States Senate.

Accordingly, I hope you will agree to join me for five Lincoln-Douglas debates between now and the Primary Election on March 6th.

All the best,

Ted Cruz

Of all the explanations of the Occupy Wall Street/Wherever phenomenon, nothing can beat this one by Bill Whittle. It’s been going around since last week and many say “he’s nailed it.” Watch. Hat tip Jim C.

The Occupy Wall Street protesters are complaining about everything from corporations to having to repay student loans. Is America the victim of its own success? Have we created a generation of self-entitled cry babies? Is it time to make these people spend three and half days in the woods so that they can appreciate what capitalism has given them? Find out.

Help Stop a RINO Today!

The establishment politicians have decided that they are comfortable with the status quo.

Long-time moderate incumbents find it easier to sit back and enjoy the perks of office rather than rolling up their sleeves and doing the people’s work.

The people of Texas Senate District 25 have had enough of politicians kicking the can down the road and passing on debt to future generations. The people have had enough of politicians who won’t stand up for traditional family values, like the sanctity of life. There is a lack of political courage in Senate District 25, and the voters deserve better.

I am running to fill a void of conservative leadership in District 25. When elected as your State Senator, I will champion fiscally conservative policies that will strengthen the economy of Texas. Moreover, you can have no doubt that, as a medical doctor, I will be on the front lines defending innocent human life against abortion.

I will stand strong in this race but need your help to win the election. Will you stand up for conservative principles with me? Join my team today by contributing $25, $100, $250, or more!

It’s time to turn out the moderate incumbents and replace them with strong conservatives who won’t back down when it comes to defending our Texas values. Donate today to join the cause!

Heresy: More Unpopular Truth, While We Can Still Discuss It

Sibyl West: I have been studying yoga and Hinduism since 1968 and Islam since 2004. The following explanation is clear, accurate and well worth your time to consider and understand. The future of our nation depends upon it.

Why Islam is NOT Protected Under the US Constitution!

By  | October 28, 2011 | CatchKevin.com

Contrary to conventional stupidity, Islam is NOTprotected under the First Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America. Is there anyone left in the three branches of government today that can interpret our most sacred document (the Declaration of Independence not withstanding) correctly?

Like in Christendom, where the exegesis and hermeneutics of certain passages of scripture are often skewed to conform to a particular ideology, agenda, or belief system, so too has the clear and concise language of the Constitution and the 27 Amendments progressively undergone exegetical attacks over the decades—depending on which party is in power—to conform to a particular political ideology.

But this is one hermeneutical battle America can ill afford to lose. Our founding principles, i.e. Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness hang in the balance. In short—our country’s very survival depends on it.

Read it all. You’ll be glad you did.

Stop the man who gave us Obamacare. Ben Nelson, Senator from Nebraska, was the 60th deciding vote on Obamacare and now he must be defeated. Join us on CornHuskerKickBack.com and help elect Jon Bruning.

In his first web ad, Jon Bruning’s campaign shows us how even the worst decision maker in the world knows that the $100 Million kickback that Ben Nelson obtained for his home state of Nebraska is wrong. Voting for Obamacare was bad enough but, adding insult to injury, Senator Nelson got a special gift from President Obama and traded in his vote.

It’s time to elect Attorney General Jon Bruning to replace Senator Nelson and bring fiscal responsibility back to Washington.

Military judge hears pre-trial motions for Major Hasan case

DATE: October 27, 2011 3:14:26 PM CDT | Fort Hood Public Affairs Office

FORT HOOD, Texas – - In a hearing Oct. 27 in the case of  U.S. vs. Maj. Nidal Hasan the trial judge, Col. Gregory Gross, clarified some administrative matters and then heard arguments from both sides regarding pending motions.

The administrative matters involved an order to produce documents, a trial schedule and the judge’s answers to questions posed by Hasan’s defense counsel regarding the judge’s ability to preside over the case.

Gross issued an order to Yahoo! to produce documents that had been requested by the prosecution.  The defense did not object to the order.

Gross also discussed the trial schedule he is developing, and it will be published once developed.

Gross clarified his answers to the defense counsel’s questions, which pertain to the personal impact of the shooting on November 5, 2009 on his self or his family members.  The defense counsel will review the Gross’ answers before deciding whether to challenge him for cause as being unable to fairly preside over the case.

The motions presented by Hasan’s defense counsel were requests for expert assistance prior to the trial.  The defense team requested that the Fort Hood General Court Martial Convening Authority provide funding to hire a media consultant expert and a panel (jury) selection expert.  Hasan’s defense counsel assert that the experts are necessary to determine the impact extensive media coverage and other factors affecting the military community will have on unfairly influencing the opinions of potential panel members, and then to properly identify and excuse those panel members that cannot be fair and unbiased.

The prosecutors argued that such experts are unnecessary additions to the defense team, as the attorneys should be able to provide the same assistance themselves.

Gross deferred ruling on the motions, and he has not indicated when such a ruling may be made.

The next hearing is scheduled to take place during the week of Nov. 28 with the trial scheduled to begin on March 5, 2012.

Hasan is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

Cruz Calls for Casting Off the Yoke of Socialism and Restoring the Constitution

by Joshua Perry | October 26, 2011 | Team Cruz

Ted dropped by to visit with KBTV Fox 4 News in Beaumont yesterday and discussed the campaign’s tremendous momentum, including the endorsements of Senators Jim DeMint, Mike Lee, Rand Paul and Pat Toomey. In the interview, Ted made the following points:

  • We are at a fundamental crossroads in our nation.
  • It is quite literally a fight over whether our nation remains a free market economy or grabs the yoke of socialism the way much of Europe has.
  • These strong, principled conservatives in the U.S. Senate need reinforcement so we can stop the Obama Agenda, defend liberty, and restore the Constitution.
