Following George Washington’s Lead

Today, in honor of our first president’s birthday, we ask “What would George Washington do?”

President Washington was well aware of the inherent dangers posed by politics as usual, referring to the “frightful despotism” often resulting from an entrenched political class. It’s why he voluntarily stepped down after two terms in office, hoping to set an example that we are a nation governed by people, not a people governed by politicians.

Unfortunately, too many of our elected leaders today have forgotten this lesson. My opponent for the Texas Senate, Jeff Wentworth, has been in office for almost 20 years. He has worn out his welcome, putting his own personal ambitions ahead of his constituents. For this, Texas Monthly selected him as one of the ten worst legislators.

While we can hope Sen. Wentworth will eventually ask, “What would George Washington do?” and not seek a 7th term in office, our other choice is to defeat him at the ballot box.

Please join my campaign to replace a career politician with real citizen representation in the Texas Senate. In our most recent debate, I proved that I am the only candidate willing to offer bold conservative ideas to meet the challenges facing our state, which you can watch here. Now I am asking for your help, one citizen to another.

Please forward this email to your closest friends and neighbors. Tell them to like us on facebook. Display a Campbell for Texas sign in your yard. Volunteer to host a fundraiser or neighborhood meet and greet. Contribute whatever you can to help us get our positive message out by clicking on our donation page. As little as $25 makes a huge difference.

Do it now so we can keep our momentum going! As a working emergency room physician and mom, I am counting on your support!

In George Washington’s words, “perseverance and spirit have done wonders in all ages.” I have no doubt they will do wonders for the people of Central Texas. It’s time for families and small businesses to show our perseverance and gain our voice again.

Thanks for your tireless dedication and continued prayers. Let’s win this thing together!

Running for a cause, not a career…
