Last night, our favorite country doctor, Donna Campbell, held a fundraiser at Hills Cafe in South Austin and I’m happy to report she had a full house. Duck Soup provided the music and there was lots of food for the taking. A silent auction was held and many unique items were up for bid drawing several hundred dollars each.

For those of you who haven’t heard, Donna broke her foot a short time back and had surgery the day before the Gonzales Come and Take It Festival Parade. Trooper that she is, Donna rode a horse the length of the parade and met her constituents for hot dogs afterward.

Tonight, it was obvious she was feeling better and got around all right with a little help from her husband, Stan. Sporting western jeans and a new GOP red wrapping over her foot cast, Donna visited with many friends and gamely took the stage.

This little lady has never shied away from a fight. She told her story about watching her country slip away in November 2008 and wondering, “What if they win?”. She then reminded us that we all play a part in preserving freedom. As Donna tells it, after the election she immediately went down to to her Republican county headquarters and asked, “What can I do?” They told her, you can run for Congress against Lloyd Doggett!

Donna never looked back, and now she and now We the People have our best real opportunity to win the Texas 25th Congressional seat back for ourselves, our children, and our futures. The social welfare state is bankrupting our country. Even the Congressional Budget Office agrees we cannot keep recklessly spending Trillions of dollars we do not have and this Congress simply cannot stop spending.

The Austin area has been under the heel of the Democrats for 40 years, first as District 10, then as District 25. The Democratic machine that has ruled it with an iron fist and Lloyd Dogget has been embedded like a tick in the neck of disctrict taxpayers since 1995. Lloyd’s a career politician. He’s been in D.C. catering to the special interests of trial lawyers and unions for 15 long years. Doggett has promoted the relentless march of ever increasing government and regulation into our lives. He believes the government can force you to buy a product (insurance), and he supported the one-size-fits-all government bureaucrat driven Obamacare that costs us $1 Trillion, steals $500,000,000,000 from Medicare and raises taxes by another $500,000,000,000 to fund it. Oh and by the way, it will cost more than that. Waaay more.

It’s time we lit a fire under Lloyd Doggett and sent him packing.

Doggett votes wtih Obama/Pelosi so reliably, he’s earned the nickname “Lapdog”. Doggett puts political power and his Party, over the good of the People. You may think this is an exaggeration. By example, I give you: He voted for the failed Stimulus. He voted for the failed TARP. He voted to bail out Government Motors. He voted to bail out the Mortgage Industry. He voted for Obamacare. He voted for an amendment to HR 3940 that will cost Texas schoolchildren over $750,000 in lost federal funding and the law violates the Texas Constitution to boot. Shouldn’t a former Texas Supreme Court justice know that?

On 17 key political issues selected by OnTheIssues.org, Doggett measures up like this:

Doggett strongly favors: abortion, racial and gender-based hiring quotas, gay marriage, universal healthcare, alternative energy to the detriment of the oil and coal industries, illegal immigration, free trade without tariffs, he favors campaign finance reform (i.e. – reforms are needed in campaign finance, in order to reduce the influence of moneyed interests. Those reforms might include restrictions on personal donations to political campaigns; restrictions on corporate, labor union, or PAC donations; and restrictions on PAC activities. See Doggett’s contributors below), and he wants the U.S. out of Iraq.

Doggett strongly opposes: teacher-led school prayer, the death penalty, the mandatory three-strike felony rule for criminal sentencing, the absolute right to gun ownership, the privatization of social security, school choice and voucher programs, the condemnation of drug use as immoral and the enforcement of drug laws and protecting our border, expanding the armed forces, and The Patriot Act.

Looking at all this, you need to ask yourself like Donna did, “What can I do?”

You can help. Donna needs more volunteers, more phone calls mad, more money, more groups to contribute their time, talent and treasure. Above all she needs your early vote from 10/18-10/29 or your vote on election day on November 2nd. Don’t let your famiy and friends sit idly by and let this opportunity slip from our grasp. We are in striking distance and Austin will make the difference.

The opportunity you’ve been waiting for to change things is now.

“What can I do?”

Simple… Volunteer, Visit with your family, neighbors and friends, and Vote.

Imagine: Lame Stream siren NYSlimes weighs in.

Earth to Dodge-it: “Crash and burn alert. Prepare to vacate your seat in 23, 22, 21 …”

Comments

  1. Congressman Doggett voted against the TARP. Twice. Get your facts straight.

  2. Sibyl West says:

Where’s the link Floyd? Show me.
Even IF he did – big deal. Like that is going to outweigh everything else Dodge-it has done. For example, this:
    http://ramparts360.com/doggett/doggett-draws-target-on-back-of-texas-school-teachers/

You want more? Search this site for “Doggett.” There’s plenty to see as far as him blowing it is concerned.

  3. It’s more frequent now, but even before Obama was elected, a number of incumbant Democrats in vulnerable races were given permission by their leadership (Pelosi/Reid) to cover their “arsses” by casting a “NO” vote on certain bills that already had sufficient “YES” votes to pass.
Remember, the Dems were the majority party for the last 2 years of Bush’s last term. Therefore, one correct, but disingenuous vote should never exonerate any elected official when they have made so many bad ones in their career…votes that were not in the best interests of their constituents.

Pelosi’s “lapDoggett” needs to be permanently “retired” from Congress.
His votes have long since diverged from the mainstream of Texas thinking, so let’s all work to help Dr. Donna Campbell return integrity and conscientious representationto the 25th Congressional District.

  4. Poor Richard says:

According to PolitiFact, Doggett opposed TARP on two occasions (1) in Oct. 2008 when Bush was still President; and (2) on Jan. 21, 2009 when the House Voted On Passage of H.R. 384: TARP Reform and Accountability Act of 2009. PolitiFact is a project of the St. Petersburg Times, which is owned by Times Publishing Company.

OnTheIssues.org states Doggett Voted YES to monitoring TARP funds to ensure more mortgage relief. http://www.politifact.com/texas/statements/2010/oct/07/lloyd-doggett/us-rep-lloyd-doggett-says-he-voted-against-bank-ba/

GovTrack.us shows that on Jan. 21, 2009, just a few short days after Barack Obama was sworn in as President, on the question of passage of HR 384, Doggett voted YES “Aye TX-25 Doggett, Lloyd [D] ” so it appears Mr. Doggett was against the TARP bill under President Bush, but was for it under President Barack Obama.
